Hoi An Lantern Story & Craft Workshop

  • Tour Code: RTW01
  • Duration: 60 mins
  • Location: Chillax Eatery & Hangout

Introduction

Back in the 16th – 17th centuries, when Hoi An was a thriving international trading port, lanterns were hung throughout the Ancient Town at Chinese assembly halls, the Japanese Bridge, and in front of traditional houses to light up the streets at night. Over time, these colourful lanterns became a symbol of luck, peace, prosperity, and the soul of Hoi An itself.

At Chillax Eatery & Hangout, you’ll create your own foldable lantern by choosing your favourite frame and fabric colours, while hearing the story behind Hoi An’s clever collapsible lantern design – created by local artisans so travellers could easily take them home as a memorable keepsake from Vietnam.
